Acrylic Painting Classes
Monday classes in 2014 - June 2, 9, 23, 30 & July 7, 14 from 5-7 p.m. at the Allen County Extension Office, 200 East Main Street. Ages 13 & above, from beginners to advanced students. The class will focus on basic paint skills, setting up a paint palette, composition, lighting, & exploring painting techniques. Cost is $40. Free Zumba Classes
Stop by the Scottsville Country Club, located at 51 John Kelley Drive, for free Zumba classes every Tuesday and Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. and Saturday mornings at 9:30 a.m. Zumba is a wonderful way to exercise and meet great friends! Jacksonian Days Festival
In honor of one of Scottsville’s best-loved recollections, the Jacksonian Hotel, the Jacksonian Days Festival was erected in 1981 and celebrates the best in food, heritage, and fun. Held each April, the celebration includes the Chamber’s “Grandest Ole Opry” variety show, bass tournament, Spring Lights Dogwood Festival, street fair, food court, crafts and antiques, quilt show, heritage day, horse show, beauty pageant, cruise-in, and more. Most events are held on the historic Scottsville square.
Southern Kentucky Horse Drawn Machinery Auction
Featuring over 5,500 different items, this unique sale boasts hundreds of pieces of horse drawn machinery (new and reconditioned), with a wide selection of carriages, wagons, carts, etc. Hundreds of farmstead-type antiques and collectibles, including household items, shop equipment and hand tools of all descriptions can also be found. Also sold are thousands of small animals, including goats, sheep, and fowl. A large selection of shop and hand-crafted new and used furniture, including lawn furniture, is featured. An enormous success, this sale sees thousands of visitors in attendance each April.
Arts on Main Concert Series
Held at the East Main Street pavilion, this concert series begins and runs throughout the summer and features numerous, talented acts well-known for their strides in the music industry.
Dumont Hill Civil War Re-enactment
Watch history come to life on the grounds of Dumont Hill each June!
Allen County Fair
Held at the fairgrounds each summer, the Allen County Jaycees present a week of fun and excitement, including truck and tractor pulls, demolition derbies, a horse show, beauty contest, and midway carnival.
Houston Soules Day
Each August, Jim McDaniels Park hosts this celebration with a day of exceptional barbeque, children’s games, basketball tournament, and more.
Kentucky State Fair
Join our county in August as we battle for the “Pride of the Counties” booth award. Our award-winning booth showcases our unique businesses, events, and attractions throughout Allen County. Held at the Kentucky State Fairgrounds in Louisville, KY.
Sounds on Dumont Music Festival
Join us on September 12, 2014 for an evening of awesome bluegrass, folk, Americana, and roots music on beautiful Dumont Hill Park, located at 336 North Bedelia Street. The night will feature Red Ember, 23 String Band, Farewell Drifters, and a special award-winning headlining act to be announced on August 4th. Invasion of the Scarecrows
Each October, our town becomes invaded by Scarecrows! Visit our historic square and enjoy a wide variety of scarecrows all month long!
50’s & 60’s on the Square
Join us on the second Saturday of October for a day packed with fun! Dust off your poodle skirts and leather jackets, and enjoy a great band, car show, costume contest, cornhole tournament, and great food.
Chamber Farm City Breakfast
Join us in November when we celebrate Farm-City week in Allen County, highlighting the importance of agriculture throughout our community.
Hometown Christmas Parade
Take a trip back in time in December and enjoy an old-fashioned Christmas event on our historic square. One of the area’s largest parades, the event usually sees over 100 entries.
